PVYU Base Level Teacher Training – Fall 2012

PVYU Base Level Teacher Training – Fall 2012

This foundational training will help you develop all of the basic skills and techniques that you will need to begin offering your own Pranavayu yoga classes. Perfect for current and aspiring teachers alike, this four weekend training intensive will enable you to explore deeper levels of your potential while developing the necessary tools to guide yourself and others toward a happier, healthier and more fulfilling practice both on and off the mat.

Over the course of this program you will learn:

  • Specialized training methods that will help you deepen strength and flexibility at a much faster rate than you might have thought possible
  • How our paradigm system can be used to construct highly efficient yoga classes for beginning and intermediate students
  • The ways in which our alignment system can be used to safely position any posture that you will ever encounter in a yoga class
  • The basics of human anatomy and physiology
  • Time tested mental training methods that will help you cultivate the best in yourself while you continue work for the wellbeing of others
  • Practical exercises that will make it easier for you to guide meditation

Highlights of the program include:

An experiential learning format

Just as we learn how to swim by swimming, how to draw by drawing and to sing by singing, the best way to become a good yoga teacher is to actually teach classes. To help you develop your teaching skills, you will be given plenty of time to engage in exercises that will help you practice doing all of the things that will be required of you as a professional yoga teacher.

A group learning environment

Since we often learn more by interacting with peers than through any other means, our teacher training will focus on creating small learning communities that will help you absorb information at an accelerated rate through focus exercises, group discussions and guided partner work. Supplementary readings and homework assignments will be given to support the learning that we do in class.

A strong emphasis on information creation

Creating new materials is one of the best ways to integrate new knowledge and skills into your memory banks. With this in mind, our training will encourage you to create new neural connections through yoga sequence creation, group presentations, and fun interactive exercises that engage your whole body and mind.

How can I use this certification?

If you have already completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training in another style, you may begin teaching PranaVayu inspired vinyasa classes immediately after this program ends. Or, if you prefer, you can simply use the information that you learn to supplement and enhance your existing teaching style.

If you have not already completed a 200-hour yoga teacher-training program, you may still attend this intensive. However, most potential teaching locations will require that you complete 100 hours of additional training before you are eligible to teach professionally.

If you decide later on that you’d like to pursue full certification in our system, you can do so by attending our Intensive Training Program which consists of nine more days of focused training at an additional cost. Graduates of this program will be eligible for 200 hour registry with the Yoga Alliance.
